FAQ

Top questions

Will I lose my entries if I sign out?

Yes, signing out clears glumea's local diary on this phone. To keep your entries safe, save a password-protected .glumea file first and check that it reached your chosen destination. Only data that finished syncing has a cloud copy; restoring it needs the same account and active glumea+.

How do I move my diary to a new phone?

On the old phone, either let Cloud sync finish with glumea+ or save a .glumea file to a place you can access from the new phone. Sign in to the same account there and use the cloud copy or import the file. A normal iCloud or Google device backup does not transfer glumea's encrypted diary.

Can I edit an entry after saving it?

Saved entries cannot be edited yet. To correct a manually logged entry, you can delete it in History and add the right details again. If the original was synced, it may return after a later restore; check your History before relying on the correction.

Will glumea alert me while I sleep like a CGM?

glumea does not monitor glucose continuously or replace your CGM's alarms. Its glucose alerts depend on a new manually logged reading, enabled settings, and your device delivering the notification. Readings imported from Health do not trigger these alerts.

What can glumea import from Apple Health or Health Connect?

You can choose glucose, carbohydrates, and weight separately in Settings > Integrations. glumea reads these records but does not write them back or import insulin doses. The first import looks back up to 30 days.

Getting started

What can I track in glumea?

You can log glucose, food, and weight. If your Diabetes profile includes insulin or other medication, you can log those too. Open Add to choose what you want to record.

Who is glumea for?

glumea is for people aged 16 or over who want to keep a diabetes diary. You can set up a profile for type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes, MODY, prediabetes, or no diagnosis. It does not replace your care team or a medical device.

What can I use for free, and what does glumea+ add?

Logging, History, Health imports, a manual .glumea backup, and a glucose CSV report are available without glumea+. glumea+ adds Cloud sync, PDF glucose reports, and 30-day and 90-day glucose statistics. Open glumea+ in the app for the current plans available to you.

How do I add my first entry?

Tap Add, choose glucose, food, weight, or an available treatment type, enter the details, and save. You can change the date and time before saving if you are recording something that happened earlier.

Can I use bread units instead of grams for carbohydrates?

Yes. In Settings > Units > Carb units, choose grams, a 12 g bread unit, a 10 g carbohydrate portion, or a 15 g carb choice. Grams are the initial carb unit; you can change it whenever you need to.

Why is glumea showing mg/dL instead of mmol/L?

The starting glucose unit follows your device's region, not the language you choose in glumea. Open Settings > Units to change it. Carb units start in grams regardless of region and have their own setting there.

Which languages does glumea support?

glumea currently offers 24 language and script choices. Choose one in Settings > Language, or select System to follow your device.

I forgot my account password. How do I reset it?

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?, enter your email, and request a code. Use the code to create a new password, then sign in. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder and contact us.

I didn't receive my sign-up verification code. What can I do?

Check the email address you entered and your spam folder. The current verification screen has no resend button. If the code still does not arrive, contact us for help.

Entries & History

Can I log glucose, food, and treatment together?

Yes. Fill in the sections you need in Add, then save. The entries share the date and time selected on that screen.

Can I add an entry for an earlier date?

Yes. Change the date and time in Add before saving. The picker allows up to 90 days in the past, through the current time.

Can I edit an entry after saving it?

Saved entries cannot be edited yet. To correct a manually logged entry, you can delete it in History and add the right details again. If the original was synced, it may return after a later restore; check your History before relying on the correction.

Does deleting an entry remove it from every device?

No. Tapping a manually logged entry in History lets you remove it from this device. A copy that already synced may return after a full restore. Deletion of individual entries across devices is not available yet.

How do I find an older entry?

Open History and use the entry-type filters or the From and To date controls. You can also scroll back through the timeline. History does not currently have a keyword search.

Why won't glumea accept my glucose value?

Check the selected glucose unit and the number you entered. Add has a limited input range. If it cannot accept an actual reading, contact us rather than entering a different number.

Why are several imported readings shown as one item in History?

History groups nearby glucose readings from the same Health source so the list is easier to browse. Open the group to see each reading; grouping does not delete or combine the underlying entries.

Medications & insulin

How do I add insulin, tablets, or injectable medication?

In Add, open Insulin or Medications and choose Add insulin or Add medication. You can select a listed product or set up a custom one, then record the amount you took. Use your own treatment plan for the dose; glumea does not choose it for you.

Why can't I see insulin or medication in Add?

Those sections depend on the treatment selected in your Diabetes profile. Update the profile if your treatment has changed, then return to Add.

How do I change or remove a medication in glumea?

Open its Insulin or Medications section in Add and tap the medication you configured. You can edit its details or remove it from your current list. Removing it does not rewrite past entries.

Does “Not injected” or “Not taken” mean I missed a dose?

It means glumea has no matching entry for that scheduled treatment. It cannot tell whether you took it without logging it. Check your own records and treatment plan before deciding what to do.

Can glumea calculate how much insulin I should take?

No. You can record doses and enter information such as your insulin-to-carbohydrate ratio, but glumea does not recommend a dose. Follow the plan agreed with your care team.

What does the Active insulin view mean?

It estimates how much of your recently logged bolus insulin may still be acting. The detail view may show an approximate glucose-lowering range based on your settings. That range is not a measured glucose value or a dose recommendation. Check a current glucose reading and follow your treatment plan before making treatment decisions.

Does “Mark as taken” record my exact dose?

It records a fixed amount: one unit of insulin or one tablet. If you took a different amount, delete that entry in History and add the correct dose in Add. For injectable medication, log the dose in Add rather than from the notification.

Reminders & alerts

Will glumea alert me while I sleep like a CGM?

glumea does not monitor glucose continuously or replace your CGM's alarms. Its glucose alerts depend on a new manually logged reading, enabled settings, and your device delivering the notification. Readings imported from Health do not trigger these alerts.

Why are my Safety alerts turned off?

They start on for type 1 or insulin-treated profiles. For other profiles, open Settings > Notifications > Safety alerts and enable the alerts you want. Also allow notifications on your device.

I logged a low or high reading. Why didn't I receive an alert?

Check the relevant Safety alert in glumea and your device's notification permission. Focus, silent modes, and other device settings can affect whether it sounds. Use your usual glucose alert method; glumea should not be your only one.

Why didn't a medication reminder arrive?

Check the medication's reminder schedule, notification permission, and Quiet hours. If that schedule needs to alert you during Quiet hours, turn on Override quiet hours for that reminder. Device modes can still affect delivery.

What do Quiet hours do?

In Settings > Notifications, set a start and end time to silence non-critical reminders. Safety alerts can still come through, and individual medication reminders can override Quiet hours. Device settings may still affect any notification.

How do I hide readings and medication names on my lock screen?

In Settings > Notifications, turn off Show details on lock screen. Newly scheduled notifications will show a generic reminder type. Notifications already scheduled may keep their previous details until they are rescheduled.

How do I turn off notifications?

Open Settings > Notifications to turn off individual reminders and alerts, or use the main notification switch to silence all of them. Turning off all notifications also silences Safety alerts.

I set a glucose-check reminder. Why didn't it arrive?

The current app shows scheduled glucose-check and weekly-summary settings, but it does not deliver those scheduled notifications yet. For a time-critical reminder, use a reliable phone alarm or another method you already trust.

Glucose card & insights

What does “Next reading” mean? Is it an alarm?

It is a suggested time based on your latest logged information. It can change when you add entries. It is not a scheduled alarm or an instruction to change treatment.

Why does my glucose card say “Aging” or “Outdated”?

Aging means the suggested time for another reading has passed. Outdated means your last reading is at least six hours old. Your previous reading stays in History; the card is asking for a newer one.

What do the glucose zones mean?

They group logged readings as severe low, low, in range, high, or severe high. The in-range zone follows the target range shown in glumea; the severe zones use fixed thresholds. You can review or change your target range in your Diabetes profile. Use your care team's advice when setting your own targets.

Is glumea's “time in range” the same as my CGM's?

No. glumea shows the share of logged readings in each zone for the selected period. It does not measure the continuous time between readings, so it may differ from your CGM report.

Why is a glucose statistic missing?

Some figures need more data. Spread and variability need at least two readings. The estimated A1C (GMI) is shown only for a period of 14 days or longer, so it won't appear in a 24-hour or 7-day view.

Reports & sharing

How can I share my glucose readings with my care team?

Open Glucose dynamics, select a period, and tap Export. You can share a CSV without glumea+; a PDF report requires glumea+. Choose where to send the file in your device's share sheet.

What's included in a glucose CSV or PDF?

A report can include glucose readings, insulin, medication, food, notes, custom tags, and your name if you choose. Readings cannot be excluded when present, but you can export a period with only other entries. The PDF has a statistics section when readings exist; which figures appear depends on the period and data. Weight is not included.

Can I use a CSV or PDF to restore my diary?

No. Those files are reports for reading or sharing. To restore entries in glumea, create and import a password-protected .glumea file instead.

Apple Health & Health Connect

Can I connect a Dexcom, Libre, or glucose meter directly?

Direct sensor and meter connections are not available. If another app shares readings with Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, glumea can import them from there.

What can glumea import from Apple Health or Health Connect?

You can choose glucose, carbohydrates, and weight separately in Settings > Integrations. glumea reads these records but does not write them back or import insulin doses. The first import looks back up to 30 days.

How do I connect Apple Health or Health Connect?

Open Settings > Integrations, open the health connection for your phone, tap Connect, and approve the data types you want to share. You can change those choices later in glumea or the health platform.

Will importing the same Health data twice create duplicates?

glumea uses each source item's identifier to avoid importing it again. If two apps create separate items for the same measurement, both may still appear in glumea.

What happens when I disconnect Apple Health or Health Connect?

New imports stop, while entries already in glumea stay. Reconnecting starts a new import that can look back up to 30 days; the same source items are checked for duplicates. To revoke device-level permission, change it in Apple Health or Health Connect too.

Health Connect isn't installed. What should I do?

On Android, open Settings > Integrations and tap Install Health Connect. Once it is installed, return to glumea and connect it. If the app says Health Connect is outdated, update it first.

Backup, sync & new phone

Will I lose my entries if I sign out?

Yes, signing out clears glumea's local diary on this phone. To keep your entries safe, save a password-protected .glumea file first and check that it reached your chosen destination. Only data that finished syncing has a cloud copy; restoring it needs the same account and active glumea+.

My session expired. How can I sign in again safely?

Your local entries remain while the session is expired. Save a .glumea file from Data import & export before signing out, then sign in to the same account. With active glumea+, glumea can resume Cloud sync if it was enabled for that account; import the file if you still need entries that were only on this phone.

Can I recover entries if I lost my phone?

Sign in to the same account to restore entries that finished syncing while Cloud sync was enabled, with active glumea+. You can also import a .glumea file made on the lost phone. Entries that stayed only on that phone cannot be recovered without either copy.

Can I use glumea without an internet connection?

Yes. You can keep adding entries on this device. Cloud sync and other network actions wait for a connection.

How do I turn on Cloud sync?

Open Sync from the cloud icon on Summary or History. With glumea+, turn on Cloud sync and complete the consent step. Wait for the Sync status to show that your entries have finished uploading before relying on the cloud copy.

Does turning Cloud sync off delete anything?

It stops new uploads and keeps your local entries. Data already stored on glumea's servers remains there. If glumea+ ends, sync pauses; your local entries remain.

How do I remove my synced diary copy but keep this phone's entries?

Turn Cloud sync off, then choose Delete your data in Sync. This removes the server copy of diary entries, medication catalogs, and schedules, while keeping them on this phone. Profile and therapy settings remain on the server. Turning sync back on can upload the local data again; another device may also keep a local copy.

Where is my data kept, and is it encrypted?

Your diary on this device is stored in an encrypted local database. If you choose Cloud sync, a copy is stored on glumea's servers in the EU. A .glumea file is separately encrypted with the password you choose.

How do I make a backup without glumea+?

In Settings > Data import & export, create a .glumea file, set a password, and save or share it somewhere you control. It contains entries, medications, profile, therapy targets, and reminders. This is a manual backup, so make a new one when your diary changes.

What happens when I import a .glumea file?

Its entries are merged with those on this device. The file's profile details and notification settings replace your current ones; your account email stays the same. Entries deleted after the backup was made may return.

What if I forget my .glumea file password?

We cannot recover this password. Without it, neither you nor our support team can open the file. Keep it somewhere safe, such as a password manager.

Account & glumea+

Can I use two glumea accounts on one phone?

You can sign out and use another account. Because signing out clears local data, save a .glumea file first if you need those entries. The file can be imported only into the account that created it.

How do I delete my account, and will that cancel glumea+?

Open Settings > Account > Delete account. If you have a store subscription, cancel it in the store separately; deleting your glumea account does not stop store billing. Account deletion cannot be undone.

How do I change my email address or password?

Open Settings > Account. Tap your current email to change it, or choose Change password. Follow the form and verification-code steps. After an email change, use the new address to sign in.

How much is glumea+, and is there a free trial?

Open glumea+ to see the plans and prices available through your app store. If a free trial is available to you, it will appear on the plan before you subscribe.

How do I restore or cancel glumea+?

If a purchase is missing, use Restore purchases in glumea+. To cancel a subscription you bought, manage it in the app store used for the purchase. If your access comes through Family Sharing, the subscription owner manages billing. Complimentary access has no store subscription to cancel.

What do Usage analytics and Error reporting collect?

You choose these separately at the end of onboarding; neither collects data before you answer. The switches start on in that screen, and choosing Start without sharing keeps both off. You can change them later in Settings > Privacy & diagnostics. Usage analytics excludes glucose readings, medications, and other health data. Error reports include diagnostic and device details, but not readings, medications, notes, or account details.
